Round five of the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association competition again had some fantastic results, with great teamwork all round.

Under 12 vs SYC
The strong SYC was no match for Benalla’s new found game play in the Under 12s, with Rachel and Hayden again dominating the midfield and pushing forwards to score.
Madeleine had a stellar game, with a magnificent solo run up towards goals thwarted by the whistle.
Phoenix tackled to create turnovers and pass to Sophie, who ran forwards and was unlucky not to score in a full body effort on goals.
William was a powerhouse as goalie, stopping 15 shots on goal, with captain Teddy also stopping solid hits on goal and running up from full back to halt many late runs from SYC, to ensure Benalla took the win 6:4.

Under 15 Orange vs SCC Lions
Liam takes a shot on goal after an U15 Orange penalty corner, with Amity in support.
Under 15 Orange consolidated its game play and teamwork this week to win against SCC Lions, with great positioning, calling and passing to the best option.
Captain Liam played multiple positions across the field, giving it his all for the whole game and scoring the Tigers’ first goal.
Erin was great in the midfield, using her experience to really get the ball moving forward and also scoring twice, including a nice clean goal off a penalty corner.
Angus concentrated on creating plays through the midfield, finding open teammates with some very precise passing, including through to Amity who pushed through the circle to score – celebrating with a cartwheel!
Forward persistence paid off for Alida who slammed a definitive goal in from the post in her best game so far.
Annie, Talon and Abbie were absolute rocks in defence to keep SCC scoreless, with Talon showing great leadership skills by directing the forwards from behind the play.

Under 15 Black vs Mooroopna
Benalla’s Under 15 Black faced Mooroopna, it was a close battle between the two teams with Angus Hayes opening the scoring in the first quarter off some brilliant passing through the midfield.
Finn and Kobi positioned well along the wings to support Xavier who controlled the midfield and ran forwards to pass into the goal circle.
Steele score a fantastic first goal for the season off a great passing play up from the backline in the third quarter, with a great slap hit into the goal after Mooroopna rebounded his first attempt.
Cael, Steele, and captain Jack were solid in defence throughout the game, halting many attacks early, with goalie Alexander supporting and directing from behind. Despite multiple great saves, Mooroopna was able to draw the game 3:3.
