GVHA Hockey Round 8
Under-12 Benalla vs SYC:
After a great training session on Thursday, the team was ready to go and played their best first half of the season, with strong trapping and great slap passes.

The Tigers welcomed Portia DeBona to the team this week, who positioned well on the wing and made some good plays.
Luci Hurd played her first game as goalie and saved many goals from the strong attacking SYC, earning her the Coach’s Award.
Xavier Kramer was a solid full back, assisted by Annie Ferguson, both sending the ball down the field to Mackenzie Mort and through to Jack Chittick.
Hadassah Adams and Alida Ferguson positioned well on the wing and were able to put pressure on a lot of the SYC passes, with Alida belting in a non-goal after the whistle.
Captain Angus Hayes and Amity Hurd worked tirelessly in attack, creating many scoring opportunities, but unfortunately they were unable to convert.
All players continue to show improvement each week and always display great sportsmanship and teamwork.

Under-14 Mooroopna-Benalla vs Echuca:
The U14s had a great game drawing 3:3 against Echuca, with Erin Jenkins fighting for the ball as an inner and Xavier Kramer positioning well on the wing.
Callum Thompson provided strong defence as full back, and half back Sophie Winkler ran all game.

Under-17 Mooroopna-Benalla vs Echuca:
The U17s fought hard in the 3:8 loss to Echuca with Amber Armstrong and Kiah Atkinson strong full backs, and Lucia DeBona and Sophie Morton running hard through the midfield to support Mooroopna-Benalla’s three goals.
B-Women Benalla-SYC vs Strikers:
The B-Women ran hard all game, combining well through the centre with Lucia making some great turnovers and plays and Suzanne Wright trapping and passing well down the wing.
Goalie Prue White again made phenomenal saves diving on the ball, with Bree Harris and Millie White working hard in the circle against the persistent and aggressive attacking Strikers.
Donna Turner slotted in a goal from the post after a penalty corner hit in by Sue Trevaskis to Katrina Brown.
Benalla-SYC forced turnovers and made great use of the ball, looking for and supporting each other, and holding Strikers to just six goals in the 6:1 loss.
