The Under 10s played a lovely game against GVGS this week. Throughout the game, they displayed skilful movements to reduce the threat of GVGS. They even worked together to stop the ball in its tracks multiple times. Together, Teddy and Phoenix backed each up during the opposition’s attack on goals to help minimise the chance of the ball getting through. This teamwork allowed for the ball a couple of times to change possession to Benalla for a chance on goal. Benalla also had a strong defence with multiple players protecting the goals from attacks from GVGS. The team worked well together and keep displaying lovely skills learned at practice. Well done this week, Under 10s.

The Under 12s had a stellar game against Echuca, winning 7-4. In the forward line, Rachel (2), Darcy (2) and Bella (1) each scored lovely goals. Bella played well, allowing for the ball to be passed up the field with multiple powerful hits towards the forward and half line of the field for the rest of players to pick up. Liam Carroll played sweeping passes up the field to advance upon Echuca’s goal again. Along with Jack in goals, he blocked and removed attempts from Echuca outside Benalla’s goal to help reduce Echuca’s attack and help further improve Benalla’s lead.

Under 16-B Orange vs Under 16-B Black
This week the two Benalla under 16-B teams went head-to-head. The match was close, with each team scoring goals at a similar rate. The game ended in 8-9, the Orange team emerging victorious. On the Black team, Talon played a stellar game where he was lead goalscorer and played the majority of the game in the forward line. He worked with both Angus and Lachlan, who each scored a goal. In the goals, Annie Ferguson played a wonderful game as well, making some show-stopping removals of the ball from her goal. On the Orange team, the goal scoring was evenly shared between the team. There was even a daring play from Alex to come out of goals and kick the ball out of the danger zone.

The Under 16-A team had a strong game against Mooroopna this round resulting in a 17-8 win. Erin Jenkins led the Benalla team in attack, scoring six goals. Strong Benalla attacks prevented Mooroopna from progressing down the field. Both Zander and Angus scored five goals each, which further extended the lead. Oliver Gillies was in goals and blocked heaps of attempts from Mooroopna. The team worked well together, as was reflected in the final score.
Benalla Men played against Echuca, having a wonderful 6-0 win. Both the defence and attack were strong. Andrew Glazzard scored some magnificent goals with the help of multiple players bringing the ball up the field. Timothy Halligan and Cameron Gillies scored three goals between them.
The defensive line was very strong, giving Echuca no chances to get through and score a goal. Both the half-backs and full-backs limited Echuca’s ability to advance and turned the ball over on multiple occasions.
