Under-12 Benalla Blacks met with Myrtleford at the Norm Minns Oval at Wangaratta Showgrounds on Sunday for the match all teams have been working toward all season long in the Wangaratta and District Junior Football League - the grand final.

A valiant effort was put up by the boys, putting strong pressure on Myrtleford all day, but unfortunately despite our best efforts, Myrtleford came out on top with a 27-point win.
A hot start to the contest saw Benalla right in the mix at quarter time, though trailing 1.0 (6) to Myrtleford’s 2.1 (13), before closing the margin to one straight kick by half time after winning the second term by a point to head into the main break down 2.3 (15) to 3.3 (21), and in with a big shout.
The second half proved decisive, though, as Benalla Black was unable to match the intensity of Myrtleford for the full four quarters, eventually going down 2.5 (17) to 6.8 (44), but taking the fight right up to the minor premiers.
Despite not being the winners on the day, Benalla Black has worked so hard all season, and we are so proud of all of you, and your growth and development over the season. Congratulations Benalla Black, you’ve done us proud!
