Competing in the Best Trick competition, Adelberg landed a Rodova Flip, a trick which had never previously been executed in competition, rotating the bike forward into a front flip while hooking his feet underneath the bars and holding the back of the seat.
The extreme stunt, which Adelberg pulled off on the first of his two runs, scored a 92.66 from the judges, catapulting him straight into top spot, with his score remaining the benchmark for the entirety of the competition.
Speaking on the podium after collecting the record gold, Adelberg expressed his pleasure at claiming consecutive wins in the event.
“It’s good to come back to Japan and back up my Best Trick gold from last year (in Chiba),” he said.
“That was a brand-new trick, I did it pretty good and I’m stoked to stand here with two of my friends from Australia, it feels really good.”

The win further cements Adelberg as Australia’s best at the X Games in any discipline, with the win earning the Moto X star his19th medal and ninth gold, to go with six silver and four bronze medals.
It was an all-Australian affair on the podium, too, as a pair of New South Welshmen rounded out the top three, with Benny Richards, who hails from Wagga Wagga, placing second with a best score of 91, and Jackson Strong, a Lockhart native, earning third place with a score of 90.
Attention will now turn to the upcoming X Games Salt Lake City in Utah, USA, the second of the two X Games events taking place this year, with Adelberg among the invited athletes set to compete from July 27-29.
The Salt Lake City event is also set to be the final summer competition before the X Games League launches in 2026, which will feature year-round competitions and a team format, with additional prizemoney on offer.
