In what may be a low point in the season for Benalla A-grade netball, the Saints were demolished by first-placed Euroa 80-32.
The 48-goal flogging was spearheaded by Euroa sharpshooter Olivia Morris, who scored a whopping 58 goals in a lopsided affair.
Coach Jo Toms highlighted some aspects of Benalla’s game that could be improved and what they will be focusing on in training for the remainder of the season.
“There are a lot of things we did do well, it’s just that we lack the consistency at this stage,” she said.
“We go missing in one quarter which you just can’t afford to do at this level of netball.
“It’s about being consistent and pushing hard for four quarters.
“We’ll work hard in our fitness session on Tuesday, then when we hit the court on Thursday it’ll just be more about being under pressure and not making silly mistakes when we start top fatigue.”
Despite Benalla conceding 80 goals in the contest, coach Toms awarded her best on court award to goalkeeper Kate Symes for her consistent effort throughout the game and her support of her teammates when the contest was looking bleak.
“Our best on court went to Kate Symes for her tenacity and effort, she fought hard every minute of the game and was instrumental in our defensive end.”
“She is certainly someone that stood out to us on the sidelines, she went for every ball, tried to mix it up and was playing against a really tall agile shooter.
“We were extremely impressed with her effort and the way she supported all of her teammates on court and off.”
