Echuca United finally faced off against some lower-table opposition in the Murray Netball League and didn’t let the opportunity go to waste.

After battling each of the league’s top five in consecutive rounds, the Eagles were finally drawn against a table neighbour, hosting Barooga at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.

United wasted no time making the game its own, completely dominating the first quarter to establish a double-digit lead, 15-4, by the first interval.
The Eagles' defensive unit matched the effort in the second, again keeping the Hawks to four goals, while the attacking contingent added another 12 for a 27-8 half-time advantage.

The third period was Barooga’s best of the contest as the Hawks managed 10 scores, but Echuca United still surged further ahead, up by 27 at the final break.
The Eagles would finish strong in the fourth to record an impressive 58-23 win.

A run to the finals places still looks unlikely as they sit three games clear, but should the Eagles win consecutive upcoming matches against lower-table opposition, it could put some pressure on the top six.
United (3-1-7) visits Finley (1-10) this weekend, before coming up against Cobram in round 13.
