Echuca has continued its recent slide in form to three games with Seymour the latest side to get over the top of it in round 11 of Goulburn Valley League netball.
However, the match at Victoria Park looked promising for the girls in green at the outset — with the two sides trading blows to remain level at the first break.
Despite a solid attacking performance in the second period by Echuca, the Lions went that bit further to break the stalemate — creating a four-goal advantage by half-time.
Seymour took hold of the game after the major break, going on a 13-1 run through the middle of the third term to extend its lead to 11 with a quarter to play.
While the Murray Bombers added 13 goals down the stretch, it wasn’t enough to overcome the chasm created by the Lions in the third term, who coasted home with a 13-goal effort of their own.
Young goaler Rose Byrne continues to show her quality and importance to this Echuca A-grade unit with a 31-goal performance in the losing campaign.
The final score was 49-60.
With its latest defeat, Echuca has now slid out of the finals frame and currently sits in eighth.
Luckily, the Murray Bombers will have a chance to get back on the board in when they play arch-rival Rochester at Victoria Park in round 12.
