It was more of the same from the Benalla Breakers at the weekend, who continued their home-court dominance with two resounding Country Basketball League wins.

The Breakers dazzled on Saturday night in their 91-53 win over Wodonga and got off to a flyer after a 25-12 first quarter blitz.
Lachlan Kego was the standout with 30 points on the board, while Eric Miraflores notched up 17 of his own in yet another sizzling performance.
Breakers coach Wally Armstrong said he was pleased his side could put together two dominant showings on their home court, as they begin to look toward finals.
“We’re very happy to come away with two wins, Saturday we were solid right through,” Armstrong said.
“Lachie Kego was outstanding in his second game back from injury, Tom Downie and he really controlled the boards with Riley Kego.
“All the guards were really good and the kids were good, it was a really good team effort.”
The Breakers then all but cemented second spot on Sunday after powering to 79-33 destruction of Mansfield.
“We were great defensively on Sunday, to hold a team to just 33 points across four quarters was a great effort,” Armstrong said.
“We owned the boards, and defensively we were superb.”
Armstrong said Sunday’s game was also pleasing in that he was able to give minutes to several young Breakers.
“We got some minutes into our bench — young Montell Macfarlane came on in the last four minutes of the game and actually gave them a real spark,” he said.
“He’s a young player who’s just turned 16, he had the crowd right behind him and his parents were really proud and he just added some real energy.
“The kids came on and had a real charisma and enthusiasm, they set the last few minutes alight.”
At half-time on Saturday night, the Breakers’ All-Abilities players took to the court to showcase their shooting skills.
Armstrong said the program has already started with a bang in 2023, after a fantastic turnout to their first session of the year on Monday night.
“All Abilities got back to training on Monday night and we had 18 there, it’s been a growing thing,” Armstrong said.
“We’re trying to get a bit of money towards the program — we’d love to get some uniforms for them, we want to make sure they’re a part of what we are and give them a crack at it.”
Despite a big Breakers win on Saturday, Armstrong said an All-Abilities star almost took the roof off after a incredible shooting show at half-time.
“Young Stevie (Lyon) was the star, he stole the show with his accurate shooting and hit five or six shots,” Armstrong said.
“He outshone all the shooters for the game.”
The Breakers’ will complete their home and away season with a blockbuster final fixture against Seymour next Saturday, before a bye the following week.
