A-Grade came up against a new and improved King Valley.

It was a tight tussle from the first whistle that was a great game to watch. Jenna Bruner, Kylie Relf and Ally Ellis stood tall in the ring and moved the ball well. Carli Brennan and Amelia Gall combined well in the midcourt to help Goorambat be in the lead at half-time.

Going into the third quarter the Bats had a slight lead, but King Valley came out firing and managed to turn the quarter around and take the lead by three at the last change.

The Bats made some positional changes in the last quarter, welcoming back Sarah Osborne after injury and saw Goorambat display some great netball.

Mackenzie Wilkinson, Brittany button and Nikki Wallace worked hard in defence and created some great turnovers, which helped turn the game around to see Goorambat win the game by four goals at the final whistle.

Awards: Best On Kylie Relf — Maccas Sharpening Service; 2nd Amelia Gall — Madison Jane Hair; 3rd Mackenzie Wilkinson — Amcal Chemist

Under-15

A great morning to play netball, this week we continued to trial different positions for a few players. Ruby Richardson and Yolly Bourke started well in the attacking end, moving well and taking opportunities to score. The defensive end with Claudia Kelly, Eleanor Renkin and Malaika Perry caused the King valley shooters a tough time. The third quarter lapse was costly for us.

Awards: Best on Issie DeFazio — Advanced Ag Cash Award; 2nd Claudia Kelly — Chill Out Smoothie Bar; 3rd Yolly Bourke — Spot 4 Ice Cream

Under-17/C-Grade

The C-grade girls were ready for a tough battle today against third-on-the-ladder King Valley.

They were going out to have fun and enjoy themselves.

We were one player short and Alyssa coming back from injury, so had to rely on the help from the several Under-15s.

Everyone stepped up and played their part coming away with a win by four goals.

Thank you to the five girls from Under-15s for helping us out today.

Awards: Best On Molly Martin — Goorambat Railway Hotel; 2nd Alyssa Priest — Spot 4 Ice Cream; 3rd Poppy Broomhall — Bill Bo Pop

B-Reserve

B-reserve started well coming against up against a tall King Valley and they kept up with them until half-time. Kate Nolan and Abby Hammond worked hard in goals all day.

Chloe Trevena applied great pressure all over the court to be awarded best on for the game and was well backed by Georgia O’Brien, and they combined well together.

Hannah Coote worked hard in defence to create turnovers, and was strong against tough shooters. Hayley and Emma also worked hard in the defensive circle against fast and accurate shooters, but it wasn’t the day for Goorambat.

Awards: Best On Chloe Trevena — Royal Hotel Benalla; 2nd Georgia O’Brien — Bare Aesthetik; 3rd Hannah Coote — Blooms on Bridge

Family fun fair day brought the weather gods, with beautiful sunshine.

The Bats started with the pedal down, Aneiki Pierce had her eye in and played a ripper game in shooting, combining well with the return of Erin Hernan who was having her first game back after a pre season injury.

Legs of Chelsea Bamford and Georgia Thomson showed great versatility, being able to run defence and transition into the midcourt, also.

The Bats played a well-constructed court and team effort as the Valley fought back in the third quarter.

Jo Gall and Tiffany Kirkpatrick showed a steady head and fed well to the shooters in the last capitalising on the turnovers created by defenders Georgia and Maddie Thomas being able to pull away and consolidate the win.

Awards: Best On Aneiki Pierce — Hollywoods Pizza; 2nd Georgia Thomson — Munro & Sargeant; 3rd Chelsea Bamford — Rambling Rose

Seniors

G Bat 1-3 5-5 11-7 13-9 87

King Valley 5-2 7-3 12-5 14-9 93

The Seniors, unlike the Reserves, got off to a slower start and were not as clean with the ball as King Valley in the first quarter, allowing them to take a four-goal lead into the quarter-time break.

They managed to work their way back into the contest in the second, with Darcy Edgar giving the on-ballers opportunities to move the ball forward bringing the defecate back to 10 points at half-time.

The third quarter was a shootout, evenly matched with more than 10 goals kicked in the quarter, with Sam Gladstone getting valuable goals with great support from the skipper Ryan Burns.

It was disappointing for the boys not to come away with the win on the day with the first quarter proving to be very costly, and they will be hoping to make amends next week against North Wangaratta.

Best Players: Ryan Burns (Peter Davis Rural), Jamie Dunne (Goorambat Railway Hotel), Rick Walker (Hollywoods Pizza), Brady Purcell ((Royal Hotel), Alex Maloney (Club Dinner).

Goals: Sam Gladstone 4, Rob Wilson 3, Charlie Campbell 1, Dylan Leadingham 1, Gary Priest 1, Aaron Blackburn 1, Kobe Black 1, Charles Hunter 1.

Congratulations to Mick French winning the Round 4 match day raffle.

Reserves

Goorambat 4-2 4-2 7-3 7-4 46

King Valley 0-0 3-5 5-6 7-12 54

Goorambat reserves got off to a great start on Saturday against King Valley at Goorambat with the strongest side for the year so far with four unanswered goals in the first quarter.

King Valley settled in the second reversing the trend, and not allowing the boys to get as much of the footy, reducing the lead to just three points at the half-time break making for a great contest in the last half.

Will Hoskins and Haider Alhasnawi played well with good support from all their teammates. It came down to a battle of the fittest in the end, but it was a great improvement by the boys.

Best Players: Will Hoskins (Bouwmeesters Bakery), Haider Alhasnawi (Royal Hotel), Shaun Lemmer (Benalla Bowls Club Gift Card), Daniel Hooper (Macca’s Sharpening Service), Aiden Phillips (Brew & Toasties).

Goals: P Cochrane 2, H Alhasnawi 2, Will Hoskins 1, Todd Wapling, 1 B Ward 1.

Family fair day

Goorambat ran a family fair day on Saturday, much to the delight of all the kids and families. There was a jumping castle, petting zoo and fairy floss, which kept the kids entertained all day.
