A Grade secured a hard-fought 39-33 win in a highly competitive and defensive clash against Bright.
The match remained tight across all four quarters, with Bright applying consistent pressure. However, Goorambat maintained composure to hold a narrow lead throughout, controlling the game when it mattered most.
Olivia Dalton was outstanding in the midcourt, controlling play and working tirelessly to earn best on court. Kylie Relf was strong in goals, providing a reliable target and finishing well under pressure, while Molly Doidge delivered a consistent and valuable performance across the court.
A great team effort to secure an important win.

B Grade
Goorambat’s B Grade side was involved in a fierce and physical contest, going down by a single goal in a nail-biting finish. Bright came out strongly and maintained consistent pressure across all four quarters, but the Bats showed great grit and determination, never backing down.
In defence, Ally Ellis, Kelsey Moss and Amelia Gall were outstanding, applying relentless pressure and working tirelessly to keep Goorambat within striking distance. Tiffany Osborne was instrumental through the midcourt, feeding accurately into the circle while also showcasing her speed and strength around the court.
The team’s resilience and commitment were evident right through to the final siren in what was a hard-fought and impressive performance.

B Reserve
B Reserve had a slow start against a strong Bright side but showed great determination to fight their way back into the contest. After trailing early, the girls lifted their intensity to draw level by half time in an impressive turnaround.
Bright regained control in the second half, with fitness playing a factor as the game wore on, but Goorambat continued to compete until the final whistle.
Fiona Doig was outstanding in defence, earning best on court with her pressure and ability to create turnovers. Grace Handley worked tirelessly through the midcourt, while Abbey Hammond also contributed strongly with consistent effort.
A commendable performance against quality opposition with plenty to build on.

Under 17s
The under-17s faced a tough challenge against a strong Bright outfit, going down 10-59. While the scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort, the girls competed strongly throughout and showed resilience under constant pressure.
Lola Mount was a standout in the midcourt, working tirelessly and leading by example to earn best on court honours. Kaitlyn Russell was solid in defence, consistently applying pressure, while Ella Hogan provided strong effort and drive across the court.
Despite the result, the team showed great determination and will take valuable lessons from the game.

Under 15s
Goorambat’s under-15s delivered a determined performance against Bright, going down by five goals in a closely contested match. The Bats held a narrow one-goal lead at half time, showing strong composure and teamwork early, before Bright edged ahead in the second half.
Ava Hayes was outstanding in goal keeper, applying relentless pressure and capitalising on rebound opportunities. Chloe Culhane impressed in goal attack with accurate shooting and tireless work rate to create options, while Estelle Doig showed great commitment in defence, staying tight on her opponent and contesting every ball.
Overall, it was a strong team effort with plenty of positives to take forward.

Senior Football
Goorambat 7.4. 46 def by Bright 14.17 101
Bright made an aggressive start despite kicking into the wind, but strong defensive pressure from the Bat’s backline limited them to more behinds than goals. At quarter time, Bright led 3.7 (25) to Goorambat 1.0 (6). The second term followed a similar pattern, with the Bats managing just one goal while Bright added 3.4, extending their lead at the main break.
After half time, coach Jamie rallied his side, leading to a much-improved and hard-fought second half. The Bats responded strongly, kicking 4.2 to Bright’s 3.2 in an even contest. Jordan Wolff was outstanding in the third quarter in his first game for the club, applying excellent forward pressure, presenting strongly, and taking contested marks. He finished with an impressive four goals for the match.
Despite the Bats’ late surge, Bright held firm in the final term to secure a convincing 55-point victory.
Victor Butler delivered another consistent four-quarter performance, while Brayden Stepien contributed two goals. Rob Wilson was also influential, dominating the ruck contests throughout the game.

Reserves
It was a challenging day for our Reserves against Bright at the weekend. The Bats fielded a significantly different side compared to round one, with several experienced players unavailable. Despite this, the group showed great determination and effort across all four quarters.
Club newcomer Gavin Batchelor impressed in his first game, demonstrating versatility and providing his crumbing forwards with every opportunity at ground level. Jeremy Sloan maintained his trademark intensity around the ground, while Dylan Barber worked hard in the forward line.
Jack Trevena kicked our only goal for the match, with the final score reading Goorambat 1.2 (8) to Bright’s 22.8 (140).
