The senior side were hoping to play their best football at home against Milawa and get a much needed win against one of the top four sides, however Milawa proved cleaner with its use of the football, getting away to a three goal advantage at the first break.
Dylan Beavis was in everything down back in what was only his second game back from injury with some great defensive work, along with James Webb who is getting better each week he plays.
Both Jamie Dunne and Matt Ryan were at their best in the middle, but it wasn’t enough to match it on the day with Milawa, but the boys know they are not far away at all to match it with the best this year.

The reserves came up against a very good side in Milawa and started the game well scoring the first goal of the day. Milawa then took control and the boys were under pressure.
Both Nathan Holmes and Andy Ellis battled hard for the boys, causing some turnovers and sending the ball into attack, with Dylan Barber providing a target up forward despite limited opportunities along with Jack Trevena, both adding to the score board.
Credit to the boys, they tried their best all day against Milawa, with Mitch Dansey and Jeremy Bramich playing one of their best games for the year.

The Bats came up against a very strong Milawa side this weekend. They found themselves starting each quarter slower than Milawa, allowing them to gain a three or four goal advantage throughout most quarters, but still managed a one-goal lead at halftime.
Amelia Gall led the way with Sarah Blackburn in the mid court providing plenty of drive and turnovers. Chelsea Bamford also provided strong defensive pressure allowing the Bats to stick with Milawa and prevent them from pulling away too far throughout the game.
Once again the Bats found themselves in a tight goal for goal finish, ultimately going down by one.

The Bats started strong in the first quarter which saw them working well as a team.
The game got tough and the girls found it hard to get the ball into the ring in the face of some tough and physical defence from Milawa.
Tiffany Kirkpatrick ran hard in the mid court all game providing plenty of speed and drive. Grace Handley moved back into the WD position and played hard defence to help create turnovers. Fi Doig worked tirelessly in goal keeper and WD putting pressure over the ball and rebounding strong against accurate shooters.
It was a tough game for the girls but they will regroup and come out strong again next week.

Saturday morning saw Goorambat have a little sleep in while Milawa accelerated in the first quarter.
After the first quarter Goorambat held its own, and Kate Nolan gave the team some reward for effort, capitalising on her opportunities to score.
Milawa was having to work a lot harder to score with Brooke Haddrell and Kirby Davis applying plenty of defensive pressure.
Supporting roles of the midcourters Ella Woods, Bri Putt and Jordyn Hancock saw great court flow, turnovers and full court pressure.
The last half of the game was the Batters best, as Abby Hammond gave great drive, feeds and all over court pressure. They backed each other up and made Milawa work for everything.

The girls came out strong making good leads onto the ball and converting on the first centre pass, giving them a bit of confidence.
With strong defence from Milawa getting a few rebounds, the Bats went into the second quarter down by three.
Continuing to develop and work together in the defensive end for the Bats was Indy Stovall and Lacey Carter, getting tips to a lot of balls and making Milawa’s attacking end work for every goal.
Mixing up our attacking end was Poppy Broomhall back in the line up taking a run in WA, feeding into the combination of shooters Katelyn Russell and Yolanda Bourke.
Charli Button was back out into centre for a run this week, proving a strong force through the mid court both in attack and defensively, getting a few intercepts.
Ultimately Milawa’s experience and discipline came through and they went home with the win.

Goorambat 5 def by Milawa 78
Goorambat girls went in to the game this week a little intimidated by the size of the Milawa under-15s, but they came together as a team and actually played a great game in all four quarters.
Tireless defence from Goorambat’s defenders Chloe Culhane, Bonnie O’Callaghan and Meika Smith saw a few really great turnovers and great movement.
Great ball movement from mid court players Emma Hall, Estelle Doig and Evie Ellis finally saw the ball moving down to our attacking end, resulting in five goals for the game from shooters Alarna Button and Havarna Long.
The girls have come a long way since the start of the season. Each and every one of them have been putting in the hard yards and always showing up at training. They all need to be congratulated with their efforts.
