The Swans A-grade side has jumped inside the top six for the first time this season, but it has come at a cost.
The Swans defeated Benalla 52-40 to leap-frog Shepparton into sixth spot, however, gun defender Erin Hopkins suffered a serious lower leg injury in the win.
Chloe Hill kept the Saints in the fight from her position in goal defence, with Hayley Martiniello helping set the tone in the mid-court.
Kellie Keen and Sally Washfold combined well again in the attacking ring.
The loss bumps Benalla back to eighth, with wins quickly becoming a necessity if the side hopes to make finals.
It was a nail-biter in B-grade, the Saints unlucky to go down by just four goals
Benalla was no match for a high-flying B-reserve outfit, who accounted for the Saints 63-21.
In junior action, the Saints’ under-17s were outclassed by a red-hot Swans outfit 71-29.
It was very much a one-sided affair in the under-15s as well, Benalla going down 71-10.
Looking forward: Chloe Hill looks to pass.
