Three teams took to the courts across Saturday and Sunday, and performed admirably.
Under-15s: Jerilderie 38 def Dookie 29.
The under-15s had a fantastic win in the semi-final on Saturday at Dookie.
To say the weather wasn’t ideal for netball would be an understatement.
Despite the gale-force winds, the team adjusted effortlessly and played some brilliant netball.
Ruby Nessen and Stella Williams worked beautifully together in the ring, getting close to the post and making sure the goals went in despite the tough conditions.
Their movement and connection were seamless, just as they’ve been all season.
Abby Mitchell and Jacinta Eldridge ran hard through the mid-court, creating space and delivering the ball with precision.
In defence, Phoebe Hennebery, Eliza Godfrey and Sama Swaid were outstanding, keeping Dookie’s attackers under pressure, picking up loose balls and making vital intercepts when it counted most.
It was an impressive team performance, and with this win, the team moves on to the preliminary final this Sunday.
Under-17s: Jerilderie 51 def Rennie 48.
The u17 girls delivered a thrilling performance on Sunday, coming from behind to secure a hard-fought three goal victory in their semi final clash.
The team showed true determination and composure under pressure to book their spot in the preliminary final.
Ava and Georgia Belling were standout performers, with each twin playing exceptional games and making a strong impact across the court.
Ruby Neessen was dynamic in and out of the goal ring, creating space and opportunities while keeping the scoreboard ticking.
It was great to see Miley Conn back on court after injury, contributing with a solid and composed performance.
In defence, Shikaya Hall, Chelsea Hibbert, and Shania Eru worked tirelessly to apply pressure, forcing crucial turnovers that helped swing the momentum.
Zara Williams set the tone early in the mid-court, controlling the pace of the game in the first half and linking play beautifully between defence and attack.
A great team effort all round – well done girls!
C-grade: Jerilderie 38 def by Waaia 43.
C-grade unfortunately went down by just five goals in the second semi final against Waaia.
The girls played an outstanding game, showing composure and determination from start to finish.
Despite the pressure from Waaia’s strong defensive unit, the mid-court delivered some brilliant feeds into the shooters, who converted with confidence.
The shooters stood tall and combined seamlessly with the mid-court to move the ball down the court with skill and precision.
In defence, both in the ring and through the mid-court, the girls worked tirelessly picking up loose balls, pulling in rebounds, and capitalising on intercepts whenever the chance arose.
It was a great display of netball, with the score remaining tight throughout the match.
The girls should be extremely proud of their efforts and the determination that has carried them this far.
