Benalla’s junior hockey guns put in brilliant efforts right across the pitch in round four of the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association competition, giving it their all despite being unable to come away with wins.

Under 13s vs Mooroopna
The under-13 Tigers delivered a strong performance against Mooroopna, with great teamwork and relentless effort across the field.
Finn was outstanding as goalkeeper, making crucial saves and reading the play brilliantly.
William and Rachel impressed with their ability to switch smoothly between defence and attack, while captain Hayden led with skill and determination through the midfield.
Sophie and Charlee brought speed and pressure on the wings, driving the ball forward at every opportunity, while Phoenix and Madeleine both forced some handy turnovers through the midfield, supporting both defence and attack in a fantastic all-round team effort despite losing 0-2.

Under 16s vs GVGS

Benalla-SYC under-16s had a tough game, with lots of running and penalty corners against a strong GVGS, who won 10-1.
Breanna was fantastic in breaking through the midfield, with some handy turnovers and great runs supported by Ineke on the wing.
The full backs had a workout keeping the ball out of the circle, with Cael’s big clearances, some nice pick ups from Steele and Indi, and a huge run from Alida to save the ball right on the line.

Goalie Annie faced two strokes one-on-one with a player, and many penalty corners.
Captain Xavier and half back Cooper worked hard through the centre, with forwards Kobe, Brodie and Lucas trying to push through the solid defence.

Jack scored a magnificent goal from a penalty corner first hit in, which was well celebrated.

Women’s SYC vs Mooroopna
SYC was much stronger meeting Mooroopna again this round, holding them to just one goal for the first half.
Full back Amber had a magnificent game, with constant tackles and clearances from the circle, and Breanna scored her first goal in the women’s competition with a great sweep around the goalie after a great team-run into the circle.
Jacinta was relentless in chasing down her opponent, forcing many balls out, while Lee switched from half back to inner and intercepted many.
A series of three quick goals to Mooroopna in the third quarter sealed the game, with SYC losing 1-5.
