King Valley 56 def. Goorambat 54
Goorambat came up against King Valley this week and the match was a tough contest with the Bats trailing the whole game.
Nikki Wallace and Brittany Button were working hard at stopping the Valley girls from scoring before Brittany in the first quarter went down with injury.
Chelsea Bamford came on and the Bats were slow to adjust and allowed the Valley girls to get a six-goal lead after the first quarter.
The Bats had a better second quarter, but they were not able to capitalise on some crucial turnovers and maintained the six-goal difference.
The Bats’ shooters Jenna Brunner and Kylie Relf worked hard, making sure they were able to score.
They shot exceptionally well and worked well together and in the third quarter the Bats were able to come back to a three-goal difference.
King Valley, a very disciplined team, made it extremely hard for the Bats to maintain control of the game.
Goorambat’s mid-courters Amelia Gall, Sarah Osborne, Carli Hogan and Mackenzie Wilkinson had plenty of speed, creating plenty of turnovers that the Bats struggled to turn into a score due to the tough valley defenders.
The Bats brought the score level half-way through the final quarter with Brittany Button back on but were not able to sustain the momentum.
Overall it was a positive outcome for the Bats and they are looking forward to their bye next week to recover and prepare for the next tough match against Milawa

King Valley 36 def. by Goorambat 37
The Bats started a little steady in the first quarter with Valley taking a five-goal lead.

Shooters Aneiki Pierce and Jacinta Beavis started to combine well with accurate feeding from Tiffany Kirkpatrick and Hannah Botta.
The workhorse of the team, Chelsea Bamford, continued to support the attack, bringing it down court with Erin Hernan in fine style, opening up the drives from attackers.
The third quarter saw Goorambat drag the margin to within a goal.
With a hard-fought last quarter, the Bats kept a steady game to play with great control and defensive pressure.
It was goal for goal but a mid-court turnover for the Bats and shooter Aneiki Pierce sinking a long-range shot gave Goorambat the final edge to take the win with seconds to go.
It was the first time the girls led at the final siren.
