As a continuation of round eight of the Murray Valley Cricket Association, the Rhinos are aiming to get a result against their hosts.
The game hangs in the balance, with the teams able to move up or down the ladder by at least one position depending on the result.
The Rhinos currently sit in second on the MVCA A-grade ladder with four wins and two losses, while Katunga are in fifth with two wins, three losses and one no result.
After winning the toss and electing to bat last Saturday, the Swans put on a total of 224 from 56.3 overs.
Andrew Hogan (4/52), Joice Mathew (2/29) and Anthony Bradley (2/22) were the multiple wicket takers for the Rhinos as Daniel Henderson did most of the damage with the bat for Katunga scoring 69.
Batting for the rest of the day, the Rhinos made 70 runs but are four wickets down after 23 overs, with Brad Todd the main run scorer making 32.
The Katunga bowlers Hugh Duncan (1/24) and Hamish McGregor (1/2) and Jacob Bartlett (2/39) all took wickets and will be dangerous again tomorrow.
The Rhinos will need a strong effort to score the required 155 runs with six wickets in hand, but the team have plenty of firepower left in the batting line up, with all remaining batters capable of scoring runs.
In the B-grade competition, the Rhinos play the fourth-placed Finley side at Deniliquin’s Memorial Park tomorrow from 1pm and will be looking to build off their past two consecutive wins.
Finley has been in good form, having four wins and three losses so far this season, including their last two matches against Katamatite and Tungamah.
Meanwhile, the seventh placed Rhinos have had three wins and four losses this season with wins against Jerilderie and Katunga over the last two weeks and the team will look to even their ledger this weekend.
In junior cricket, the under-15s continue their two-day match at Katunga tomorrow morning chasing Katunga’s 72, while the under-13s were scheduled to play against Finley yesterday afternoon.
