Yarrawonga and Mulwala Football Netball Clubs are gearing up for a strong start to their respective 2026 seasons, with both sides hoping to secure wins over the Easter weekend in Mulwala.
Mulwala will kick things off on Good Friday, hosting Congupna in what promises to be an exciting day of Murray Football and Netball League at Lonsdale Reserve.
Action begins with the fourths football at 9:15am and Under 11s netball at 9:45am, before senior grades take to the field and court at 2:00pm and 1:30pm respectively.
Supporters and spectators will also have the opportunity to donate to the Good Friday Appeal, supporting children receiving care at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Easter action continues on Sunday, with the Pigeons taking part in the traditional Easter clash at their home ground, also at Lonsdale Reserve as the Pigeons’ JC Lowe Oval hosts part of the popular Easter Tennis Tournament.
The Pigeons will look to launch their 2026 their Ovens and Murray League campaign with a win over the Wodonga Raiders, with senior football beginning at 2:00pm and A Grade netball at 2.20pm.
All football and netball matches will follow the usual home-and-away schedule, with a possible special appearance from the Easter Bunny adding to the festivities.
With warm autumn temperatures forecast and an influx of visitors expected in town, both the Lions and Pigeons are preparing for large crowds and a vibrant Easter weekend of sport.
