Mulwala Lions have slammed their way to a whopping 21-goal victory over the Deniliquin Rams on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Sean Robinson, fresh off his bag of six majors, the Lions were on song early, with Robinson booting the first goal of the day less than a minute into the contest.
From there, it was a one-way street.
The Lions were ferocious and continued to damage the scoreboard throughout the opening term.
Wheeler, Dow and Will Robinson all joined in on the action before the Rams finally registered their first goal 15 minutes in through Monte Barnes.
Will Cookson dominated once again pulling off a best on ground performance that showed his poise and decison making across the day.
Mulwala continued to score at a rapid rate, with Will Robinson and Jaxon Meade proving a thorn in the Rams' defence.
The Lions' attacking pressure was relentless, and the scoreboard continued to tick over at a rapid rate.
By half-time, the Lions had already built an imposing 11-goal lead.
Jaxon Wheeler was also awarded a senior debut after 14 games in the reserves and rose to the occasion, producing a strong display that included two goals.
With the Lions running away with the contest, the Rams were never able to recover, as Mulwala continued to pile on the pressure and extend the margin well beyond 120 points.
It was a dominant performance from the Lions, who proved far too strong for the Rams from the opening bounce to the final siren.
The Lions will take on Echuca United at home to cement a double chance before the finals.

Mulwala suffered a heartbreaking one-point loss to Deniliquin on the weekend in a hard-fought contest that went right down to the final siren.
There was very little between the two sides throughout the match, with both teams battling hard around the ground and making every possession count.
Mulwala continued to fight its way back into the contest and had opportunities but unfortunately couldn’t find the extra goal needed to get over the line.
Harley Cooper was outstanding for Mulwala, leading from the front with a strong performance, while Archer Kirchen and Ned Saunders were busy all day and provided plenty of drive through the midfield and around the ground.
Hugo Varndell continued to work hard and was a constant contributor, while Nate Leith also impressed with a strong performance and finished among the goals.
Ryan Leith and Ned Saunders also hit the scoreboard, with Harley Cooper and Nate Leith adding goals as Mulwala’s forwards worked hard to create opportunities.
In the end, it was a case of so close yet so far for Mulwala, with Deniliquin holding on for a narrow one-point victory.
While the result was disappointing, the effort and competitiveness shown by the Mulwala boys was encouraging, and they will be looking to turn these close contests into wins as the season progresses.

After a long drive to Deni, the boys were greeted with a great day for football.
Keen to continue their winning form, the boys went into the game with a clear mindset.
However, it was the Rams who got the edge in the first quarter, controlling much of the play.
After a quarter-time reset, the young Lions came out strongly and had much of the play, but just couldn’t get the score they were chasing.
In the third and fourth quarters, the Lions played some great footy, with pressure all over the ground right up until the final siren.
Unfortunately, the bigger bodies of the Rams proved too much, and the Lions finished the game without troubling the scoreboard.
Zeke was fantastic all day, giving the Lions first use when in the ruck and feeding Colin and Bennie, who never gave up.
Benji was a rock down back and provided great run when moving into the midfield, swapping with Finn, who didn’t stop running.
It was a brave effort by the whole team, pleasing the coaches with a never-say-die attitude as the boys refused to stop until the final siren.
The Lions now turn their attention to Echuca, with their finals hopes still alive.

A Grade
Mulwala 77 defeated Deniliquin 43.
After a slow start, the Lions’ A Grade side gradually increased its lead against the Deni Rams each quarter, stamping its dominance on the game in the final quarter to overcome a physical contest and secure a 34-goal victory.
All 10 players rotated throughout the game, playing various positions and getting valuable court time ahead of finals.
Again, young gun Nancy Thomas took the court for the side, and it was a pleasure to watch the 14-year-old combine with Georgie Hemphill in defence.
Georgie was at her best, taking numerous intercepts, supporting her fellow defenders and being a leader for the Lions down back.
Steph Ferguson was as solid as ever for the Lions with a great four-quarter effort, always smiling and sinking her shots.
Tess McNamara played an important role with strong drives, great defensive pressure and smart feeds into the ring.
B Grade
Mulwala 49 defeated Deniliquin 33.
Mulwala B Grade secured another important four points this week with a solid 49–33 win over Deniliquin.
It was another strong team performance across the court, with every player playing their part and working towards their goals.
Defensively, all players stepped up, applied pressure and made it difficult for Deni to move the ball down the court.
The girls created plenty of turnovers and capitalised on these opportunities well.
There was another change in combinations through the attacking end, with a big thank you to Charli Taylor for stepping up from the Under 17s.
Despite the changes, the girls adapted really well, continued to work together and kept the scoreboard ticking over.
There is just one more game of the home-and-away season before finals. The Lions are ready to go.

The Lions were keen to get the win, and it was a real team effort from start to finish.
Annabelle was strong in defence, while Gracie gave it her all in WD, shutting down her opponent.
Hannah was in great form, moving the ball down the court beautifully and setting the shooters up for plenty of opportunities.
Myley was absolutely tearing it up in the goals, moving like Jagger.
It was a fantastic team effort from the Lions. Well done, girls.

Deniliquin 30 defeated Mulwala 21.
The girls knew this would be a good, hard game and that Deni would come out firing from the first whistle after Mulwala beat them by one goal earlier in the season, and they did exactly that.
The pressure was on, and Deni did not miss a beat.
The girls did well to keep the margin to just three goals at the first break, but it was in the second quarter that they let Deni get away, pushing the difference out to seven goals.
Mulwala’s defence was strong all day, the midcourt worked super hard and the goalers shot well, but some wayward passes and fumbles let the side down.
The girls never gave up, though, and pushed hard right to the final siren, eventually going down to Deni by nine goals.
It was a great learning experience and will make the girls even more prepared and determined if they come up against Deni in the finals.

It was a great effort by the whole team.
