It was a night of running for Benalla Little Athletics’ littlest athletes, competing in 70m, 100m and 200m events, as well as some junior shot put, discus and javelin.

We talk a lot in Little Athletics about doing our best. It is not about beating the other person, it is about putting in your best effort. Occasionally that is rewarded when youngsters get to beat their personal best.
On the night, Under 6 competitor Chloe Franzke beat her own personal best in the 100m sprint while fellow Under 6 competitor Michael Brown set his first goal to work towards.
Running hard: Jaxson Heatherill and Bill Christie.
Under 7 athlete Jaxson Heatherill and Under 6 Bill Christie looked like they were floating on air as they both set their times in the 200m sprint.
Over at the junior javelin event, the Under 7s tried their best to aim at the photographer. Luckily for the photographer, the javelins are made of foam.
Having a go: The Under 7 javelin competitors.
For the older athletes it was a big day of running with the Under 9 and Under 10 athletes recording their first results for the season on the 800m track, while the Under 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and Under 16 athletes ran in both the 400m and the 1500m events.
Legs up: Owen Bolitho.
Following the long track it was all about getting some air. The Under 9 and Under 10 Athletes set some distance goals in the long jump. Under 10 athletes Lola Crook, Owen Bolitho, Tomas Kinderis and Rebecca Goodwin must have had their wings on, as they showed the other athletes how to fly.
Getting some air: Tomas Kinderis.
Over at the triple jump, Under 12s Addison Pastuszka and Isabelle Heatherill, and Under 13 Mary Moll showed everyone all it took was a hop, skip and jump.
