Moama’s 13-and-under netball side has had quite vice-like grip on glory to start the 2020s making every grand final post-COVID-19 and winning a few flags along the way.

With that in mind, a new crop of promising 13-and-under Magpies will be going for glory on Saturday against a strong Mulwala unit.
The two sides have been the most formidable this season, with Moama having yet to drop a game en route to the big dance, while both of the Lions’ losses have come against the Magpies, in round 12 and in the second semi-final respectively.
Both matches were tight tussles, with the Lions inching closer in both contests from losing by six goals to narrowing the margin to four.
Could the grand final be an upset?
Moama coach Rachael Whitelegg doesn’t think so, despite giving credit to Mulwala.
“On paper we seem to be the team to beat, but, I don't want to jinx us, we’ve just got to go out and play our game and hopefully come away with the win,” Whitelgg said.
“Everyone's out to beat us, the girls have been the benchmark all season, so as a coach, I'm quietly confident.
“I really do believe in the girls and I think that we can come home with the win.

“Credit to Mulwala players and their coaches, they've had a fantastic season, and I really do think Saturday's game could go either way.
“But, I'm quietly confident that my girls, if they just go out and play their game, hopefully we come home with the goods.”
Reflecting on the season, Whitelegg was thrilled about the camaraderie and togetherness her players have shown over the course of 2025.
“I've got three girls from last year's grand final team in the team, which has been a very calming aura, which has been great, it’s just been a really fantastic season,” she said.
“They've managed to secure both defensive and attacking 13-and-under team of the year, so, as a coach, I couldn't be more proud of the effort and the weekly commitment to training and playing every Saturday.
“No matter what happens on the weekend, I'm extremely proud of them, they've all developed and grown throughout the season.
“They’re always there for each other and rally around each other week in, week out, so, I have no doubts they will give it everything they can for each other this weekend.”
The 13-and-under grand final is set for a 9.30am start at Moama Recreation Reserve.
