He takes over from Magnus Aitken, who vacated the role at the recent annual general meeting due to changing work commitments.
The meeting re-elected Geoff Corboy as secretary and Col McMahon as treasurer.
There was a good attendance at the AGM which also saw a strong committee elected, although the club will also continue to seek involvement of more young people in its activities.
McMahon reported a pleasing financial result for the past year, with a profit that will allow the club to continue investing funds in improving facilities for participants and patrons.
Key works completed over the past 12 months include renewal of the ring main to improve efficiency of track watering, which will also reduce volunteer hours repairing the old main.
Hall said he was honoured to be taking the reins of an organisation with a long history in Deniliquin and district.
“We had two excellent race meetings this calendar year and the club will be working hard to further improve the racing experience for everyone involved.
“Significant work has been undertaken on our race track and surrounding facilities in the last couple of years and this will continue.
“The club will again host meetings in 2026 on Anzac Day and our Cup meeting, which coincides with The Everest in Sydney and the time-honoured Caulfield Cup. We look forward to the continued community support that has been so strong for many years.”
In his outgoing president’s report, Magnus Aitken reflected on the 2024-25 racing year, which included the unfortunate cancellation of the Cup day races after 70mm of rain, however a phantom meeting was held with a good crowd enjoying the day.
The 2025 Anzac Day meeting attracted a large crowd and was very successful.
Aitken acknowledged the support of Deniliquin RSL Club, which has returned as a major sponsor.
He said various projects had been completed in the past 12 months, including the irrigation system to help maintain the track surface. There were also additions to the outside running rail, and the inside was being replaced with plastic railing.
He acknowledged committee, volunteers and sponsors for their ongoing support, with special mention to treasurer Col McMahon, secretary Geoff Corboy, track manager Greg Danckert and surrounds coordinator Lindsay Holden.
