The seniors came up against Bonnie Doon with three reserves doubling up on the day to help out with some key players away, and matched it with the opposition in the first quarter with good football.
Bonnie Doon did get on top in the second quarter with the boys lacking the opportunity to use the bench with rotations through the middle of the ground.
Jamie Dunne continued his great form giving the forwards plenty of opportunities.
The boys did a great job after the long break in defence to keep Bonnie Doon to just four goals after half-time in conditions that were good for putting a big score on the board, with credit going to Darcy Edgar in the ruck.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 13.22 (100) def Goorambat 4.7 (31)
Best players: Jamie Dunne (Peter Davis Rural), Brad Simmons (Goorambat Railway Hotel), Jim Taylor (Royal Hotel), Darcy Edgar (Hollywood's Pizza), Ryan Burns (Club Dinner) and Cooper McCoy (Cross Fit Hustle Crew).
Goals: Shaun Lemmer, Rick Walker, Jamie Dunne and Aaron Blackburn, 1.
Reserves
Goorambat reserves were undermanned when they came up against a very strong Bonnie Doon reserves team on the North Wangaratta Oval in good conditions for football, with the score not truly reflecting the game.
The boys never gave up on the task in front of them and improved as the game went on, with Peter Cochrane and Dallas Spencer both continuing their good form around the ground and both gave their all for the boys.
Goorambat will look to stick with it and get a much-earned win in the next couple of weeks.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 32.20 (212) def. Goorambat 0.0 (0)
Best players: Peter Cochrane (Bouwmeesters Bakery), Dallas Spencer (Royal Hotel), Todd Wapling (Benalla Bowls Club), Daniel Hilles (SportsPower) and Josh Heylbut (Bill Bo Pop).
Netball
A-grade
Goorambat started well against an in-form Bonnie Doon.
Jenna Brunner and Ally Ellis moved well in shooting to get good scoring opportunities.
Kylie Relf moved from mid-court into shooting after Ally went down with an injury to keep Goorambat within reach with great feeding from Carli Brennan.
Nikki Wallace and Brittany Button worked tirelessly in defence against tall and accurate shooters.
Chelsea Bamford stepped up from B-grade and performed well in wing defence and shooting.
It was not the Bats' day against a well-drilled Bonnie Doon side.

Awards: Best on court: Brittany Button (Blacks Plumbing cash award). Second: Amelia Gall (Munro & Sargeant). Third: Kylie Button (Rambling Rose).
B-grade
From the first whistle, Goorambat knew it was going to be a tough gig, the few injured returning players testing their wheels this week.
Defenders had a task as Doon’s goalers had been showing form throughout the season and they did exceptionally well.
Madeline Thomas and Georgia Thomson made the shooters work hard to get it into the ring.
The mid-court defensive flow was working, but the Bats could not quite break the zone defence put up by Bonnie Doon, and the end of the first quarter saw the Bombers with a handy lead.
The second quarter saw Jacinta Beavis getting some movement and drive in attack with Chelsea Bamford.
Bonnie Doon only gained an extra couple of goals in the second spell quarter.
The Bombers’ attack got good flow and the Bats had an injury time from Jo Gall, which meant changes in the mid-court.
Bonnie Doon capitalised on the Bats' slow adjustment and some inaccurate passes.
Goorambat did not get the gel and rhythm it needed to break Bonnie Doon’s tall physical side.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 52 def. Goorambat 29
Awards: Best on court: Georgia Thomson (Macca's Knife Sharpening). Second: Chelsea Bamford (Bare Aesthetik). Third: Aneiki Pierce (Amcal Benalla).
B-reserve
The girls knew this week would be tough going up against the top side, Bonnie Doon.
Captain Elise Nolan played a great game in goal defence and she applied pressure to challenge the Bonnie Doon shooters.
Carissa Parrant played a great attacking game with strong drives and feeds into the shooters.
Hannah Coote worked well in the defence end, making it hard for the Bonnie Doon shooters to move in the ring.
The girls are continuing to work hard each week at training, and their improvements are showing.
Despite the score, the girls come out each week as a team and try their hardest.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 70 def. Goorambat 19
Awards: Best on court: Elise Nolan (Goorambat Railway Hotel). Second: Carissa Parrant (Madison Jane Hair). Third: Hannah Coote (Blooms on Bridge).
Under-17s
This week the Bats under-17s faced second on the ladder Bonnie Doon.
Last time the teams faced each other was a tough game for Goorambat and the girls had their biggest margin loss for the season, so they were ready for a challenge ahead.
Goorambat came out with a positive attitude and give it everything it had and leave nothing behind in the tank.
A nail-biter last quarter was the result, with each team going goal for goal.
Bonnie Doon managed to finish winners by one goal.
The girls should be so proud of themselves on an amazing game.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 49 def. Goorambat 48
Awards: Best on court: Lacey Carter (Advanced Ag cash award). Second: Ella Parrant (Bill Bo Pop). Third: Sophie Hammond (Spot 4 Icecream).
Under-15s
The scoreline was not a true reflection of the game Goorambat played.
As much as disappointment comes from any defeat, it was a pleasing scoreline showing improvement from the young bats.
Compared to the first time the two teams met, all the girls lifted and showed how much they had improved in their passing, defence and general gameplay.
The young Bats started slowly, struggling to break the Bomber zone.
The second quarter saw the girls working together better, breaking the defensive zone and taking advantage of the goals being unprotected.
Bonnie Doon was a well-drilled team who utilised its opportunities from the Bats turnovers.
Goorambat was able to work well together, and the young Bats will continue to work on building their skills and putting it together in future games.
Final score: Bonnie Doon 41 def. Goorambat 19
Awards: Best on court: Eleanor Renkin (Hollywood's Pizza). Second: Libby Renkin (Chill Out Smoothie Bar). Third: Claudia Kelly (Spot 4 Icecream). Fourth: Yolly Bourke (Defazio Concreting).
