The senior game at home in windy conditions on Saturday against North Wangaratta was an even contest from start to finish, with Goorambat making the most of its opportunities in front of goal.
Captain Ryan Burns played another great game, leading by example, taking the boys into the half-time break with a 10-point lead.
Jim Taylor played one of his best games for the year, with Alex Moloney playing a great game down back and club veteran Travers Nolan looking dangerous up forward.
North Wangaratta was able to get on top in the last 10 minutes of the game to come away with the win, and the Goorambat boys would have been disappointed not to come away with a much needed win at home.

A grade
Goorambat came up against North Wangaratta and was too simply strong.
The Bats started off slow but were able to gradually take control in the last quarter.
Ally Ellis and Kylie Relf shot well in the first half before Jenna Brunner joined the attacking ring, helping maintain the leading margin for the Bats.
The shooters moved the ball well around the circle and North Wangaratta struggled to shut them down.
Amelia Gall, Mackenzie Wilkinson and Carli Hogan had plenty of speed through the mid court, creating plenty of turnovers.
Goorambat had plenty of good play and court structure when bringing the ball down.
Bats defenders Brittany Button and Nikki Wallace had to play off the body on holding shooters and were able to adjust and rebound well, also taking many intercepts throughout the game and helping the Bats to a 16-goal win.

Movement from defence to attack was flowing nicely.
Tired bodies from the Bats and changes from North Wangaratta got the visitors back into the game.
Jo Gall kept pressing in attack and the last quarter saw the Hawks get the lead, with some tight defence and a few calls not quite falling the Bats’ way.
The Hawks swooped in and took the last half of the game, which ended in a draw.

The Bats went goal for goal at the start and then the girls worked hard to take the lead and secure the win.
At half time, shooter Emma Dowdell took the court in goal shooter and secured lots of shots and rebounds.
Georgia O’Brien stepped up to wing attack where she provided great plays down the court and fed into the shooters.
The defenders played a high-pressure game, making the North Wangaratta shooter work hard.
Hayley Marciniak provided lots of talk in goal keeper and goal defence as she applied pressure and worked hard for the turnovers.
The girls should be proud of how far they have come through the season.

U15s
This week saw the Bats came from behind to claim their second win for the season.
In the first quarter, the girls tried valiantly as Libby ran hard across the court and delivered her rocket passes to keep pushing the ball forward.
North Wangaratta had solid rebounders, however, and the Bats trailed at the first break.
Undeterred and now warmed up, the Bats lifted in the second quarter and were inspired by Bronti, who shot six goals from six attempts.
Bronti proved her versatility with some terrific intercepts and consistent defensive pressure.
Ella got herself back in the game, working hard both in and out of the ring, and she made brilliant contributions to the score.
The momentum swung to a much more even contest and Yolly, in her first game as wing attack, became influential as she drilled a number of fast passes into the ring.
Issie modelled strong pressure and intent as she played out the game in centre and Milly kept tight to her player, making her opponent work hard for any possession.
Claudia played the full game as a strong, reliable defender and she worked seamlessly with Eleanor in the ring.
Eleanor played a standout game and she was stellar in defence.
Her speed and game awareness ensured that even though North Wang had more scoring opportunities in the final quarter, they could not convert due to her defensive pressure.
In the final quarter, the Bats took the lead but North Wang continued to claw back the score.
The Bats were able to play the game out and they celebrated a hard-earned victory by two points.
A massive thank you to Kate Defazio and all the parents for their assistance on game days.
