Goorambat played in the semi-finals against Tarrawingee this weekend.
The girls had an all-round amazing team game, but unfortunately, were not strong enough to get the win against a very good Tarrawingee side.
Tarrawingee had plenty of speed and agility, Chelsea Beavis and Ally Ellis had very strong ring defence against two tall strong shooters, they were able to adapt to the Tarra shooters and very rarely gave away a second shot.
However, the Tarra shooters were exceptional players and did not make it easy for the Bats.
The Bats trailed by one at quarter time.
Mid-courters Amelia Gall, Sarah Osborne, Alexandra Davies and Georgia Thomson had great passages of play.
They had consistent hands up over balls in defence and fantastic feeding into shooters in the attack.
Again they were well matched with the Tarra girls, who put plenty of pressure on the mid-court.
At half-time the bats led by three goals.
Bats shooters Ella Sheehan and Kylie Relf worked so well in the ring and rotated it well, giving the Bats easy scoring opportunities.
Ella changed her game when needed and worked hard at always being an option, Kylie’s speed in and out of the ring was fantastic, making the Tarra girls have to work extra hard. At the three-quarter time break it was all tied up.
Tarra was determined to stay in the game, and it came down to an even match where the Bats were up, and Tarra clawed their way back, taking control in the final minutes of the game.
The Bats lost by three goals at the final whistle.
The Bats are overwhelmed by the year they had and coaches Amelia Gall and Sarah Osborne cannot wait for what next year has to come. #Bats2023
