Yarrawonga 33 lost to Corowa-Rutherglen 41
Best: Maddy Allan, Laura Irvine
It was a beautiful sunny day in Corowa, perfect conditions for netball. It was a fast pace first quarter against a young and new Corowa team. Our consistent pressure from our defence unit in Emily, Kylie, Annalise, Laura R and Gemma generated many turnovers and provided the attack end in Laura I, Bridget, Maddy and Tilly many opportunities to capitalise.
It was a close, tough battle all game with every break being very close. Corowa came away with the win in the end. However, there were lots of positives to take out of the game that we will continue working on going forward.
B Grade
Yarrawonga 55 defeated Corowa-Rutherglen 30
Best: Olivia Lovell, Briar Rodaughan
A strong four quarters from start to finish made for a comfortable win for B grade. Early and consistent defensive turnovers saw a handy lead in the first quarter. The powerhouse defence of Liv, Anna and Grace once again proved too good, coming up with countless rebounds, intercepts, tips and full court pressure, allowing the rest of the team to lift.
Plenty of different combinations in goals and all incredibly accurate and dynamic, each causing a headache for their defenders. Briar, Dee, Maddy and Tilly all brought something exciting to the goal circle and made it easier for feeders Jackie, Sophie and Em to play their roles effectively. Jackie provided a strong voice and drive down the court to link the transition from defence to attack. An exciting game from all players.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 43 defeated Corowa-Rutherglen 36
C Grade entered the game against Corowa-Rutherglen with a steady start, seizing an early lead in the first quarter and maintaining it throughout the match. Corowa-Rutherglen came out firing from the halftime break and narrowed the gap in the third quarter. Yarrawonga made some changes and regrouped in the final quarter and showed their consistency and composure in securing the victory.

Yarrawonga 25 lost to Corowa-Rutherglen 49
This week the U17 girls had an early Sunday morning 9am game. The girls were ready to secure their first win, however Corowa made a strong start with a 20-point lead! The second quarter saw the girls come out fiercely with Milla Fletcher, having a great three feet, allowing Zoe Schweda to get rebounds followed by Claudia Cruickshank’s strong hold on the ring.
Allowing play to flow down the court via our midcourters Mia Wheaton and Emma Thompson, they then transitioned the play beautifully into Indi Wheeler as she had a run in goal attack and did not disappoint! Skai McConnell helped her out with her height and strong rebounds. Lucy Judd held her own, using her height and positioning well, allowing for the girls to feed to her.
Overall, the girls played a tough game and a competitive last three quarters but just couldn’t catch up to Corowa after their strong first quarter. The girls appreciated the assistance from both Lily Burns and Anna Zanin for filling in this weekend. Coaches Award - Milla Fletcher; Players Player: Zoe Scheweda.
Under 15
Yarrawonga 53 defeated Corowa-Rutherglen 38
The U15s earned their second win of the season beating Corowa by 15 goals.
Yarrawonga jumped out to an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. Full court defensive pressure allowed the Yarrawonga defenders to turn the ball over throughout the game. The stand out defender this week was Liv who has really worked hard in training.
The offence flowed well with Ruby, Ella and Leni combining well in goals. It was the first time the team has scored over 50 goals, which was great to see. Corowa made a fourth quarter run, but the girls fought of the attack and booked the win. Best - Leni (players), Liv (coaches).
Pigeons Loft
After a hiatus, the rumble on the river returned. The big action of the day was early with the juniors involved in a series of cracking contests. The u15s made it two from two and the 3rd XVIII and U17s thereabouts, but not quite. The A Graders where in a giant tussle but came out the wrong side however C, B, the 2nd XVIII and 1st XIII proved too strong.
