Rochy got itself off the foot of the table with a 14-57 to 2-48 win over Mathoura.
Tim Quinlan’s rink hit its targets and secured a solid 26-18 victory, the Rochy skip leading Bert Smolenaars, Jenny Major and Kevin Hall to success.
Kaye Barker also skipped her squad well, prevailing 18-11 over Mathoura’s Dennis McHarry.
In the remaining rink, Beryl Murray scored points for Mathoura, 19-13 over Brian Kinnane.
Rochester inched past Rich River on shot difference to get off the bottom of the ladder, with both sides having earned 32 points so far this season.
Moama leads the league by a good margin at the halfway mark, while Echuca and Kyabram are also solidly embedded in the top three.
Although those three may be out of reach, a good second half of the campaign would put Rochester in contention for the last finals place, currently held by Deniliquin on 49 points.
Rochy is on the road on Tuesday, December 2, visiting Stanhope Bowls Club.
