In round 18 of the Goulburn Valley League, the Swans took no chances of missing out on September action, applying the heat to Benalla in a start-to-finish demolition job.
The Saints copped a hellish start when the Swans piled on eight goals to one to open up a 43-point quarter-time advantage, with the Rachele name prominently featuring - Liam, Nathan and Lucas combining for four of the Swans’ initial eight.
The scoreboard pressure only amplified in the second quarter at Princess Park, Benalla again held to the one major as the Swans’ lead extended to 58.
The Swans’ most scoring shots came in the third term, but they kicked an inaccurate 4.7, while Benalla found accuracy with its chances in front of goal with three straight.
It was a tighter final term as the Swans preserved their energy, but still the red and white enjoyed a better showing on the scoreboard to romp to a landslide final round victory, 18.20 (128) to 7.6 (48), sending a warning to its elimination final opponent Kyabram.
Nathan Rachele was named best on ground along with features from Quade Johnstone, Joeve Cooper and Ethan Warburton, while James Auld, another named in the best, top scored with four majors.
Benalla’s best was club stalwart Mark Marriott.
The Swans finish the home and away campaign with 10 wins, seven losses and a draw for fourth place, while Benalla ends the season 11th, with four wins on its record.
