Club Mulwala Snooker Club has continued the theme, with the final of its Spring Triples being contested after a series of qualifying rounds. The team of Luca Macheda, who has been a member of both 2026 triples event-winning teams, Jason Bassett and Daryl McKernan emerged victorious over Craig Jordan, Darren Edwards and Brandon Lucas after a spirited contest replete with many close frames. Congratulations go to the blend of youth, experience and outright cunning represented by Luca, the club’s youngest competitor, multiple club singles and doubles champion Jason, and the ever-strategic Daryl. Craig, Darren and Brandon also deserve plaudits for making the playoffs in one of the club’s most popular events.
The club’s singles and doubles championships are next up, with a scheduled mid-November completion for this year’s club titles. The Bob Organ B Grade event is open, with no clear favorites at this stage. Best of luck goes to all competitors.
September’s Club Challenge was taken by Jake Thompson, who may just be fine-tuning his game in preparation for another club championship tilt, over the irrepressible Kevin Young. The monthly Diggers Challenge was taken by Sai Naidu, who is recovering well from recent injury issues, against Heie Hansen, another former club champion who is well in the mix for this year’s title.
Social night events yielded a win for “Mr. Wednesday Night,” Michael Barclay, over Ronnie Reilly on 9 September. Luca Macheda collected the choccies against Wayne Rogers on 16 September, while Dan Young claimed victory over Heie Hansen on 23 September.
As can be seen on the Mulwala Snooker Club Facebook page, new members and anyone who may like to try snooker are always welcome. Club Mulwala sponsors the club very generously, so the value-for-money ratio for players is very high indeed.
There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening, with plenty of opportunities for fresh players to join or come along and try the facilities. The club has two excellently maintained full-size tables and a state-of-the-art lighting system. The snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use, and the club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginner to advanced level can compete equally. There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can offer advice and tips on how to improve the game or adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
Anyone interested in giving snooker a try can contact the club on either 0497 062 443 or 0418 361 779, or visit on a Wednesday evening before 7.00 pm.
