Featuring Werribee Tiger Louis Pinnuck, Cobram suffered a goal-less first term that gave The Road a 23 point lead at the first break.
Five majors in the second term edged the Tigers to within biting distance at the main break, although Congupna ran away with another four before three-quarter time to take the scoreline to 41-62.
Some heroics late in the final term gave the hosts some hope, with the score resting on 68-68 after Cobram booted four goals with little reply from Congupna.
But a response did come, with the visitors booting another major to take the lead by six points.
A last-ditch effort from Cobram narrowed the gap to five points, but the final siren sounded, confirming the last win on Congupna’s spotless record this season on 10.9 (69) - 10.14 (74).
In reserves, a hat-trick by Congupna’s Daniel Campbell gave his side victory by 13 points over Cobram, on 4.10 (34) - 7.5 (47).
Elsewhere in the seniors, Numurkah stunned Moama in a one-point victory, 11.11 (77) to 11.10 (76), setting up a cut-throat elimination final as the Magpies relinquished their double chance in the top two.
A Moama loss means Mulwala has ascended into second after its 63-point win over Tongala, while Finley has condemned Barooga to a winless season following its 53-point victory.
Echuca United closed out its season on a high with a 45-point win over Deniliquin.
Finally, Nathalia demonstrated why it is built for September with a composed victory over Rumbalara, holding off peppering of the goals by Rumba to secure a thrilling 14.5 (89) to 12.8 (80) victory.
With elimination finals arrived, Cobram faces Nathalia at Congupna, while Numurkah heads to Hardinge St to take on Moama.
