A highlight on the regional swimming calendar, the event featured relay racing across all age groups, from the club’s youngest juniors through to its most experienced competitors.
Eight clubs from across the Ovens and Murray District Swimming Association region, including teams from Wangaratta, Albury, Wodonga, Corowa and Yarrawonga, took part in the competition.
The day began with the traditional March Past, where clubs are judged on marching ability, uniform, participation and Sun Smart awareness.
Yarrawonga Mulwala delivered another outstanding performance, claiming the March Past trophy for a remarkable 30th consecutive year.
Racing throughout the day saw teams of four swimmers compete for medals in their respective age-group relay events, with several Yarrawonga Mulwala teams reaching the podium with place finishes.
A special highlight midway through the program was the Sunshine Swim Relay, proudly organised by the Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club, supported by the Ovens and Murray District Swimming Association.
Evie Knight, Elyse Minogue, Thomas Minogue and Eddie Thomas won Silver in the Mixed 8 & Under 200m Relay Back.
The event saw 38 swimmers from different clubs mixed into teams, combining males and females to showcase participation, teamwork and great racing while raising funds and awareness for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust. The relay concluded a month-long Swimathon fundraiser.
Across the day, swimmers from the club’s youngest members through to its senior competitors produced impressive performances in the pool, providing a fitting finale to another successful Ovens and Murray racing season.
The club’s junior swimmers enjoyed a particularly strong meet, collecting medals in four events including the Mixed Under-8 200m Freestyle Relay and the Under-9 Mixed 100m Backstroke/Freestyle Relay.
