Tallarook Cricket Club secures key leaders for historic three-peat bid

The Tallarook Cricket Club’s bid for a Seymour District Cricket Association A-grade three-peat has started brightly, with captain Lachlan Watts and coach Andrew Dundon locked in for the 2024-25 season.

The re-signings are a significant boost for the TCC as it looks to continue one of the most successful streaks in modern SDCA history, having won six of the past nine A-grade premierships.

Watts has played in four A-grade premierships at the TCC, captaining three, while Andrew Dundon has coached the club to the flag in the past two seasons as well as playing.

TCC secretary Mitch Itter said Watts and Dundon would provide the TCC with stability and top-class support to the club’s senior and junior cricketers.

“We are incredibly excited to have Lach and Andy back on board this season,” Itter said.

The club knows both Watts and Dundon want to see the club and community thrive, hence why they have been selected for the roles.

“We’ve been lucky to have great leaders over an extended period who keep our club in fantastic shape on and off the field,” Itter said.

Along with the success of the senior squads, Watts and Dundon have played crucial roles in the success of the Rookers’ junior program, which now includes a Woolworths Blast program and multiple SDCA junior teams.

The TCC will host its season launch on Wednesday, September 11 from 5:30pm onwards at the Tallarook Recreational Reserve, with all junior and senior players welcome.

The launch will be a timely opportunity to meet the coaches of all grades and enjoy a complimentary barbecue following training.
