Dashiell Smith and Charlotte Ogier have been selected in the initial Vic Country squads set to travel to Queensland in April, while Riley Grant too could suit up for the white and navy blue, listed as an emergency for the under-18 side.
The trio of Gators juniors will head to the Sunshine State for a week-long tournament, where the men’s team aims to defend its crown after winning gold in 2025, while the women will be vying for a podium finish after narrowly losing their bronze medal match last year.
Basketball Victoria pathways general manager Dom Linossier was excited about the athletes selected.
“Several of the selected athletes already have Australian junior national team representation on their playing resume and we are equally thrilled by the progression of athletes who have been long-time members of our high-performance programs and who have earned their first state team selection,” Linossier said.
“It is wonderful to see a number of associations represented in these selections, a credit to the work our associations are doing in investing in athletes, coaches and support staff.”
The under-18 national championships will be played between April 12 to 19.
