Six teams of four took part in a format where everyone plays each other.
There were 16 frames per match, with three games played on Saturday and the final two on Sunday.
When the dust settled, it was the STR8 Shooters team from the Sunbury and Keilor regions of Melbourne which claimed the spoils.
Kelly and Mick Barron, Doug Sutherland and Andrew Fitzsimons did just enough to finish in front of the Portland side, made up of Brian Jenkins, Gary Filliponi, Matt Galloway and Tam Weir.
Limping into third place after being on top of the standings after Saturday’s play was the Deniliquin team of Kevin Campbell, Cliff Eagle, Darren Thommers and Neil Goudie.
There was also prize money for the winner of most frames, which was shared by Andrew Fitzsimons and D’wayne Saunders. They both won a very impressive 17 out of 20 frames.
Close on their heels, only one frame adrift, was Portland’s Brian Jenkins.
The matches were all played in great spirit, with plenty of good natured banter being thrown around - I think it was good natured anyway.
All visitors also appreciated the bacon and egg rolls served up by Peter Clarke on both mornings before play.
We locals enjoyed it too, Pete!
That was the fourth tournament of this kind here in Deniliquin, and plans are afoot to host the next one around late April next year.
