Finishing up in third, the Saints kept pace but couldn’t quite oust the competition’s powerhouses, Echuca and Nathalia.
However, with a young core to work with and a host of positives to take out of the season, a statement released by the club indicated its elation in securing the pair for another charge.
“Benalla Saints are thrilled to announce the reappointment of Russell Lowe and Lucy Walsh as women's football co-coaches for season 2022,” it read.
“Russell and Lucy are looking forward to a longer season, with plenty more opportunities to play the game and improving the team’s game play.
“They can't wait to see all the women come back for the 2022 season and get back into training, while continuing to grow together as a group and pushing their fitness and skills to a whole new level.”
The statement went on to detail the pair’s ambitions for season 2022, striving to create a player-friendly culture which builds success on and off the field.
“Their focus for the season will be consolidating on the women's efforts in 2021, ensuring that they can create a stable team environment where everyone can have fun and continue to develop their skills,” it read.
“Russell and Lucy are also focusing strongly on the Saints' sponsors and supporters to show them how much the team appreciates everything they are doing to support them, especially after their businesses were hurt during this year's COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.
“After falling short in the preliminary final to Nathalia last year, there is definitely a hunger to improve and go further in the 2022 season.”
