Ozzy Osbourne, the trailblazing voice of heavy metal and beloved "Prince of Darkness," has died aged 76. He passed away peacefully on 22 July 2025 at his Buckinghamshire home, surrounded by family, after years of declining health. His cause of death was confirmed as a heart attack.

Born in Birmingham, England, in 1948, Ozzy rose to fame as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, pioneering a sound that would define heavy metal. Later, with solo albums like Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, he carved his place in music history as a daring and unapologetic artist.

On 30 July, his family and thousands of fans gathered in Birmingham to say their final goodbyes. A hearse carried his coffin, adorned with purple flowers spelling his name, while a brass band played Iron Man. The procession ended at the Black Sabbath Bridge, a tribute to his roots and influence.

Ozzy's wife Sharon, and children Kelly, Jack and Aimee, stood together in grief and strength as the world shared in their sorrow. His family later laid him to rest privately in Buckinghamshire, honouring his wish for a celebration of life rather than mourning.

Tributes poured in from fellow artists, world leaders, and generations of fans. Elton John, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Gene Simmons and countless others remembered him not only as a musician but as a cultural force. His induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice-first with Black Sabbath and then solo-cemented his place among the greats.

From heavy metal stages to reality television, Ozzy's humour, grit, and humanity made him unforgettable. He once joked he didn't want a "mope-fest" for a funeral, and true to his word, his farewell became a celebration of music, life, and the fearless spirit he embodied.

Ozzy Osbourne's passing marks the end of an era, yet his influence will live on in every riff and rebellious lyric. From Birmingham to Australia and beyond, his voice remains an anthem for outsiders, dreamers and fans who found freedom in his music.
