It is with great sadness that the Muirden Senior College community pays tribute to Dr Barbara Harding. Barbara began her teaching career in 2003, retiring in 2023, serving as Principal at the College from 2009 to 2022. As one of the longest serving members of staff, she was a cornerstone of the College who built a strong rapport with students who were often struggling to engage with their education.
Barbara played an important role in shaping Muirden’s culture of acceptance and accountability and was often the first point of contact for students needing reassurance and connection. She provided mentorship to new staff and was known to employ early career teachers leading them with wisdom, kindness, and patience.
Barbara built a community at the College and throughout her years of service her deep commitment to education, compassionate leadership and her unwavering belief in the potential of every young person never faltered.
From inspiring students in the classroom, to guiding the College with vision and integrity, Barbara leaves behind a legacy which will never be forgotten. Her contribution to the College will be remembered with gratitude by colleagues, families and the many students whose lives she touched and helped shape.
