Reverend Grant O’Neill was ordained a priest on 18 May 1974. Fr Grant was Chaplain to Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, then Assistant Priest in the parishes of Boronia (1975), Mornington (1978) and Ferntree Gully (1979). From 1981 he was the Catholic Chaplain to the Social Welfare Department then appointed Assistant Priest of Lilydale Parish in 1986. He was Assistant Priest at Dandenong (1989) and then Parish Priest of Hampton Park (1990). From 1996 until 2000 he was appointed as Chaplain to the Prison Ministry and for a short time served in Ireland and the Diocese of Wilcanna-Forbes. He was then appointed Parish Priest of Diamond Creek in 2003 and Administrator of Western Port Parish and Northcote Parish (2011) and Balwyn North (2012). He was appointed Parish Priest of St Kilmore Parish in 2012 where he served the parish and the wider community until his retirement in 2019. Fr Grant died on Sunday 29 March 2026 at George Maher House, Fitzroy North. The Archdiocese is most grateful for his service to the Church.
