MAFS expert Mel Schilling dies aged 54
Mel Schilling, beloved MAFS relationship expert, has died aged 54 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sadly passed away on Thursday 6th November, Chris was a wellknown active member of Hobart Walking Club, and enjoyed a long membership of 55 years having joined in 1970. He was a strong walker who was a stalwart of the club and either coordinated or participated in many trips in all parts of the state. In the bush he was quietly confident, making the trepid feel safer; his gentleness and care for others was always on display. Chris has done many of the states hardest walks - having coordinated over 200 HWC walks. He also undertook roles including Web Manager, Trip Programmer, Walk Starter Manager and was a valued Member of Search Rescue and Training. He also served as a member of the Executive for a number of years. He was elected as an Honorary Life Member as 2017. In recent years he joined cycling camps and cycle groups. Chris was a much loved and admired member of Hobart Walking Club, who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Chris may you Rest in Peace, reunited with your beloved Mary.
