The annual Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch smashed several records as it progressed through an important agenda raising awareness and funds for cancer at Shepparton Showgrounds last week.
Attendees were entertained by celebrities, MC Des Dowling, Brendan Fevola and Marty Fields, dined on hearty smoked meats and veggies and drank some 8600 beers served up by Rotary volunteers from several Shepparton and Mooroopna clubs.
But not before taking care of business, with addresses to the audience by event chair Travis Ryan, GV Health chief executive Matt Sharp, GV Health Foundation chair Stephen Merrylees and the bowel cancer and two prostate cancer specialist nurses who are funded by the annual event, Lynda Morrison, Nicole Lewis and Sonia Strachan.
Local men, bowel cancer survivor David Greenwood and prostate cancer survivor Reg Hickey, also shared their stories with the crowd.
