Massive Attack member Robert Del Naja has been arrested on suspicion of showing support for a proscribed organisation ahead of UK Labour's annual conference in Liverpool.

Del Naja was arrested on Saturday after holding a placard reading: "I OPPOSE GENOCIDE, I SUPPORT PALESTINE ACTION".

In the footage, Del Naja can be heard saying he "doesn't recognise the offence" before police officers arrest him and remove him from where he was sitting. He was previously arrested in April.

His arrest comes after he published a message with Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori and human rights barrister Michael Mansfield calling on British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to de-proscribe Palestine Action.

"Prime minister, we don't believe that you believe that these citizens are terrorists," the trio said on Instagram, referring to the hundreds who have been arrested over their support for the proscribed group.

"So we ask you to stop what is obviously wrong. De-proscribe Palestine Action."

Hundreds are expected to take part in a further protest on Sunday with a silent sign holding vigil to coincide with the opening day of Labour's conference.

Del Naja and Burnham stood side by side last year in support of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, where the Labour leader praised the musician's "clarity and leadership".
