The US State Department has warned foreigners of consequences if they make online posts defending or downplaying the killing of influential conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau wrote on X that "in light of yesterday's horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country." He did not mention Kirk by name.
