AusNet Services employee Lee Walter received the Community Cornerstone grant, which she presented to the Connect9 program, in recognition of her commitment to volunteering.
Lee has been a volunteer mentor in Tomorrow Today’s Connect9 program for a number of years.
Connect9 is a 10-week student wellbeing program that is unique to Benalla.
Developed by Tomorrow Today, the program connects local Year 9 students with adult mentors to assist them to set life and career goals as well as discover new sports, hobbies and expand their local connections.
Lee, who presented the grant along with Ausnet’s people operations manager Patricia Seigers-Grant, said she was delighted to donate it to Tomorrow Today’s program manager Sally Matheson and student wellbeing coordinator Cathy Hair.
"The grant will enable mentors to show and educate our young people about what’s available to them in Benalla,” Ms Hair said.
“Connect9 depends on volunteers, such as Lee and Noel, to support Benalla’s young people to make informed decisions about setting life and career goals.
"The experience is extremely rewarding for both mentee and mentor alike."
