Longwood 31 defeated by Violet Town 46
Violet Town delivered a strong performance in a high-intensity contest, with pressure evident from the opening whistle. Longwood challenged every possession, making ball movement difficult at times.
Despite this, the Towners’ attacking unit remained composed, working patiently to create scoring opportunities and maintain scoreboard pressure. Defensively, Violet Town generated multiple turnovers across the court to shift momentum their way.
It was a well-rounded team effort, continuing to build consistency and connection each week.

Longwood 26 defeated by Violet Town 50
Violet Town recorded an impressive win after overcoming a strong start from Longwood. The Towners edged ahead by the first break and continued to build momentum throughout the game.
Hannah Sharp was outstanding at WA, while Jacqui Bast moved exceptionally well around the ring. Ball movement was the sharpest it has been all season, and Michaela Allen’s formidable defensive impact highlighted the team’s versatility this season.
A tremendous team performance from Violet Town.

Longwood 19 defeated by Violet Town 34
A closely contested opening saw Violet Town lift their defensive pressure early, winning crucial ball to take control of the match.
Strong feeding from Karalee Mason and Courtney Pilcher created excellent scoring opportunities, while Bianca Robins provided valuable support through the midcourt.
Combined with a determined defensive effort, the Towners ran out comfortable winners.

C Reserve
Longwood 32 defeated by Violet Town 33
In a thrilling one-goal contest, Violet Town held their nerve to secure a hard-fought win.
Despite a challenging third quarter, the Towners pushed through and finished strongly.
The match featured passages of smooth, controlled play, with seamless transition from defence to attack proving crucial.

Under 17s
Longwood 13 defeated by Violet Town 31
Violet Town started strongly with excellent defensive pressure, forcing errors and creating opportunities. While conversion was initially a challenge, the Towners maintained control of the game.
In the second half, Violet Town capitalised on their efforts, converting turnovers into goals to secure their first win of the season.

Under 15s
Longwood 35 defeated Violet Town 33
Violet Town produced a strong start, creating space well and applying defensive pressure to force turnovers.
Longwood’s defensive intensity in the circle made scoring difficult, but the Towners fought back late, returning to their game plan and closing the margin to just two goals at the final siren.

Under 13s
Longwood 6 defeated by Violet Town 19
Violet Town delivered a strong performance, highlighted by excellent defensive pressure and relentless effort.
The Towners impressed with their chasing, second efforts, and strong rebounding at both ends, while effective midcourt passing ensured control throughout the game.

Under 11s
Longwood 9 defeated by Violet Town 23
A great defensive display set the foundation for Violet Town’s win, supported by a strong team effort across the court.
New combinations were introduced successfully, and with all players back on court, the Towners continue to show encouraging progress this season.

Seniors
Violet Town was unable to record a second win in the Kyabram District League senior football competition at the weekend, going down to Longwood at Longwood Recreation Reserve.
Despite a strong start to the contest, which saw them lead at quarter time by nine points following a five-goal opening term, the Towners lost ground at every break after that, eventually going down by 50 points in a 14.10 (94) to 21.18 (144) loss.
Harry Sleigh was named best on for the Towners in the loss, closely followed by Angus Wood (one goal), while in a positive sign for Violet Town boom recruit Lachlan Smith slotted five majors in his first outing for the season to also be named among the best.
JD Hayes was influential too, snagging a major, while Nathan Butler and Ashly Hobbs (two goals) rounded out the best.
Former Richmond AFL star Kayne Pettifer also laced the boots up for the Towners at the weekend, slotting a goal.
Violet Town will look to rebound this weekend when it hosts a winless Undera on Saturday.
Reserves
Violet Town’s reserves side suffered a tough outing against Longwood on Saturday, going down by 136 points in a 1.6 (12) to 22.16 (148) defeat.
Josh Higgins was named the Towners’ best in the loss, well supported by , Darcy Pastuszka, Cam Bassett, Ben Coverley and Declan Weston, while Tyler Foster rounded out the most influential while kicking his side’s only major of the contest.
The Towners will face Undera this weekend, with both sides searching for their first win of their respective campaigns.
Thirds
Violet Town’s under-18 side scored a convincing 16.16 (112) to 6.6 (42) win over Longwood at the weekend to notch their first victory of the season.
Bryce Ashcroft starred in the win as the Towners’ best, closely followed by Koby Ross, with the pair each kicking two majors, while Tyson Pilcher snared three to be also named among the most influential.
Kobee Mann (two goals), Aryaav Singh and Toby Reeve (three goals) rounded out the best players.
Under 15s
The Towners’ under-15 side fell just short of victory against Avenel at the weekend, going down by three goals in a 4.6 (30) to 7.6 (48) defeat.
Mason Wilkins, Hunter Pilcher, Noah Norman, Braiden Jones, Jakai Stevens and Cooper Pummeroy were among the best, while Parker Jeffrey (two goals), Braxen Shiels (one goal) and Lucas Webster (one goal) hit the scoreboard.
Under 12s
Shepparton United Demons 7.11 (53) defeated Violet Town 2.0 (12)
The Towners headed to Shepparton on Friday night for another game under lights.
These youngsters are improving week-on-week, and their confidence is growing with their skills. They were on the board early with a goal from Cole North, but after that their chances for more scoring opportunities dropped as their defence slipped.
The Towners squad would have to have some of the best tackling pressure of any team in the under-12s competition, but they gave their opponents too much room to move on Friday night. Shepp United have some brilliant big kicks in their squad and were able to get plenty more shots at goal by making the most of the space Towners gave them.
Basil Piper managed to score for Towners later in the match, and it seemed to lift the teams’ spirits, and they managed to keep more ball in their 50 in the last quarter. Towners are improving week on week and will take the lessons learned from this game on board.
