The 46-year-old actress starred alongside Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, and Chris O'Dowd in Bridesmaids, the 2011 comedy film directed by Paul Feig.
Wilson now looks back on the movie as a turning point in her career.
Asked which of her films means the most to her, Rebel told the BBC: "Probably my first job in Hollywood, which was Bridesmaids".
"I was just a girl from Australia, and came to America with one suitcase, and then I booked this movie. It was this ensemble of incredible women - incredibly talented comedians, improvisers and actresses. I felt I was the most junior person on that set, and I got to come in and experience what a big Hollywood comedy is."
Wilson admitted that the movie changed her career fortunes.
"To me, getting that shot to just let loose and improvise with [director] Paul Feig and [producer] Judd Apatow and the gang was awesome."
Wilson previously revealed that she "made no money" on Bridesmaids, explaining she made just $US3,500 ($A5,026) from the hit movie.
"It was my first job in America," she said on the Diary of a CEO podcast.
"I mean, it was very lucky to get it … But to be paid that little. Basically, that $3,500 I then had to pay to the union to join the union. So I basically made no money.
"I lost money, because I had to pay to go to the premiere, like to buy my dress and everything. So, I lost money doing Bridesmaids."
Wilson was living on a meagre budget before she found fame and success in Hollywood.
"That was a really skint year where I was living on $60 a week in L.A once I'd paid my rent and my car hire.
"I wasn't partying or living this [movie star] life. It was basically having that focus, trying to write for myself, going to auditions."
