Open days on May 20 and 21 from 9am to 11am, will give families the opportunity to not only see students learn, but participate in classroom activities and celebrations themselves.
“Our focus is on celebrating growth, effort, and the joy of learning,” acting principal Mitchell Peacock said.
Students are lining the hallways with displays of their work in preparation, eager to share their knowledge with visitors.
For Mr Peacock, a love for learning is at the centre of the school.
“At Ardmona Primary School, learning doesn’t sit still. Our days are filled with energy, laughter and hands-on experiences,” he said.
“We make learning engaging, interactive, and sometimes a little bit silly — because when students are enjoying themselves, they’re more willing to take risks and grow.”
Recently, Ardmona has been strengthening their whole-school approach to teaching and learning through the implementation of the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0.
Learning is also strengthened through the school’s ability to cater individually to students.
“Our small school setting allows us to provide personalised learning for every student,” Mr Peacock said.
“This fosters a flexible learning environment that allows us to tailor opportunities based on student interests.
“We are proud of our inclusive, calm and supportive learning environment.”
Inclusivity and community is seen in how students play with everyone during lunch, gather at community BBQs and participate in morning reading with family volunteers.
Education Week provides an opportunity for the community and joy fostered at the school to be celebrated.
“It is an opportunity to showcase the students’ achievements and growth,” Mr Peacock said.
Ardmona Primary School year 4 student Nate Weidenbach springs into action as the school prepares to celebrate Education Week and showcase the joy of learning through open classroom activities and student displays.
