Southern Riverina represent strongly at Country Week

The Southern Riverina’s junior cricketing talent has been on show at this week’s Cricket Junior Country Week tournament.A total of 18 local teenagers have been selected to play against some of Victoria’s best junior cricketers in five of the Murray Valley Cricket Association’s Country Week sides which started on Monday.Jordan Sykes (Finley) and Jeremy Packer (Berrigan) were named in the Under 13s B side and are coached by Luke Quinn.They were defeated by 69 runs against Shepparton 2 at Nathalia on Monday before taking on Goulburn Murray at Brose Rec Reserve, Tongala yesterday and Shepparton 1 at Mooroopna in game three today.Other Under 13s B team members are: Darcy Edis (Katamatite), Ciaran O’Sullivan (Cobram), Nate Summerville (Nathalia), Cooper Fitzgerald (Katamatite), Crue Lucas (Katamatite), Zander Quinn (Nathalia), James McPherson (Katamatite), Gus Frostick (Nathalia) and Jack Iddles (Cobram).The final will be held on tomorrow.Hunter Hardwidge (Tocumwal), Nate Grieves (Tocumwal), Lachlan Wells (Jerilderie) and Logan White (Tocumwal) are representing the U13s A team.The U13s A team’s first match against Goulburn Murray Cricket at Moama was unfortunately abandoned.They did however get to face off against Shepparton at Berrigan yesterday for game two before playing against Bendigo at Cobram for game three today.Other Under 13s A team members are: Kepler Lukies (Katamatite), Zavier Morris (Katunga), Joseph Allen (Cobram), Sunny Rowe (Cobram), Oliver Mynard (Katamatite), Cody Harris-Cunningham (Barooga), Charlie Paton (Deniliquin) and Jack Herbete (Deniliquin).Cruz Nash (Jerilderie), Travis Lawton (Jerilderie) and Lenny Dattoli (Finley) are all representing the U14 side.The team was beaten by four runs in a thriller against Shepparton at Nathalia on Monday.The U14s faced Goulburn Murray at Rochester Rec Reserve in their second match yesterday before travelling to Berrigan to take on Shepparton in their final game today.Other members of the U14s team are: Ewan Congues (Nathalia), Nathan Gossayn (Barooga), Harry Paterson (Katamatite), Brady Walpole (Nathalia), Kai Lundberg (Nathalia), Kane Rattray-Roberts (Barooga), Liam McPherson (Katamatite), Jake Kalz (Cobram) and James Hooper (Barooga).Liam Rafferty (Finley), Matthew Whelan (Finley) and Harrison King (Finley) were selected for the Under 15s Country Week side, coached by Saran Kalsi.They launched their campaign with a three run win against Seymour at Katunga on Monday.Yesterday the MVCA met Shepparton in game two at Mooroopna, and will now face Upper Loddon at Bamawm Rec Reserve in game three today.Other members of the U15s team are: Lachlan Adams (CYU), Will Slatterie (Cobram), Noah Iddles (Cobram), Callum Hulley (CYU), Josh Payne (Barooga), Jake and Sam Poole (Barooga) and Michael Keech (Cobram).Zac Dixon (Tocumwal), Ed Haynes (Finley), Angus Bourchier (Tocumwal), Chase Hardwidge (Tocumwal), Tom Oliver (Tocumwal), Pat Bennett (Tocumwal) are all representing the U16s side.The Under 16s is being coached by Tocumwal’s Ranji Oliver.The MVCA started with a strong four-wicket win against Shepparton at the Cobram Showgrounds in game one on Monday.The U16s played against Goulburn Murray at Tongala yesterday and will face Bendigo on its home turf at Queen Elizabeth Oval in game three today.Other members of the Under 16s team are: Kai Hillier (Deniliquin), Jack Beasley (Cobram), Hugh Hyde (Cobram), Sam Boyd (Nathalia), Oscar Mckeown (Nathalia) and Riley Sampson (Barooga).
