The Rotary Club of Benalla is on a mission to "Lift the Lid on Mental Illness" this October as part of mental health month.
Almost one in five Australians will experience a mental illness every year, and nearly half of the population (45 per cent) will experience a mental illness at some stage in their lives.
Lift the Lid on Mental Illness is a national fundraising and awareness initiative of Australian Rotary Health, which aims to raise funds for mental health research and ultimately improve the lives of all Australians.

Rotary member Sally Matheson said the club had always been keen to help such a worthwhile cause.
“This events of 2020 have seen many local people experiencing isolation, anxiety and sadness," Ms Matheson said.
"Disruptions to our usual way of life have generated these feelings in the young and old across our community.
"We are hoping the Lift The Lid Day will bring some colour, fun and a sense of community to the people of Benalla.

“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by mental illness in some point during their lives,” Ms Gillett said.
"So if anything, please consider that you will be helping them and many others if you decide to make a donation.
“Our research has already focussed on areas such as anxiety and depression, substance abuse and self-harm and suicide.
"But there is so much more we can do with your help.”
The Ensign will be out and about on Friday taking some photos of those taking part.
