Benalla man in hospital following alleged stabbing

A Benalla man is in hospital following an alleged stabbing near Wedge St on Sunday morning.

Acting Sergeant Brock said police attended a property in the vicinity about 5 am after receiving reports that a person had been attacked.

“I can confirm a man is currently being treated for injuries in (a local) hospital,” Sgt Brock said.

“At the moment his injuries are being treated as serious but we have not had an update from the hospital as to his condition.”

Sgt Brock said no-one had been arrested and the investigation was ongoing.

“We attended the scene Sunday morning and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding it,” Sgt Brock said.

“If anyone knows anything about what occurred we would like them to come forward.

“Particularly anyone who may have any CCTV (or dashcam) footage from between 4 am and 5 am Sunday morning in and around Wedge St.”

She said the investigation was in its infancy and would continue to develop during the next couple of days.
