Held at the Cooinda independent living units’ social room, the Hub, seven former board members were presented with a certificate of acknowledgement and a letter of thanks from Cooinda board chair Doug Smith.
Board members in attendance were local community members Ralph Stone, Rob Roach, Di Martin, Kirstin Bolger, Marcus Bolger and John Barry with David Tallis and Robyn Kelly, each of whom served on the Cooinda board for over 10 years, also commended for their length of service.

“We were very pleased to be able to finally hold this very important presentation,” Mr Smith said.
“Each member of the Cooinda board brings their qualifications, experience and skills that contribute to the strong governance of Cooinda.
“Today, we were able to recognise and acknowledge their contribution to the board and also the time they have volunteered to ensure the success of the organisation, for all of which we thank them.

“Volunteers form an integral part of the team at Cooinda, both from an operational and governance sense,” Mr Smith said.
“Our recipients today represent an aggregate of 54 years of volunteerism as board members to Cooinda, which is a lot of community service.”
“Cooinda’s purpose is to enhance the lives of people in our region by providing innovative and individualised care and accommodation that reflects Benalla’s community life. Volunteers play an important role in that mission.
“We also acknowledge the contributions of former board members who couldn’t make it today.”
